The Cheesecake Factory has a 36 page menu. I have eaten maybe 5 things in my entire history at that restaurant. It is one of my favorite places to go but I don't find it necessary to have that many choices especially since every single item that I have tried is absolutely delicious. It really just depends on my mood which of those few things I pick. I know "variety is the spice of life" and this is not likely a subject that anyone would dare complain about but REALLY? Although it is very nice to have choice in the matter, sometimes I struggle with too many choices especially if they are all good ones. I haven't decided if this is my age or my ADHD that makes me this way. Just tell me what to eat, what to use, what to do.
So, here we are, using choice as a tool for learning and needing to decide which web platform best fits my palate. Knowing already that having that freedom of choice makes us create meaningful connections in our learning. Determining which website would be the best website for me, a self-described technically-challenged person (although I am working to change that inner narrative), has been a little more frustrating then I thought. Apparently, like the Cheesecake Factory, all the choices are good ones, it is only a matter of what you prefer. In my quest to check out Wix.com , I started a website on Web.com. I also perused WordPress but I found it more challenging than expected. I have gone back and forth to determine if I need to purchase anything or just utilizing the free website is ok for the time being. Only firm instruction was not to use Google Docs and that every assignment shouldn't be attached to a link but instead embedded in the page. I won't dare reveal how difficult and time-consuming this process has been for me. Meanwhile, I have created 3 different webpages. I have chosen Wix for now but I have a sneaking suspicion that this may not be where I land permanently. The formatting is not at all where I want it to be, it is not very reflective of my personality, but I plan to add some more personal design elements after I have it functioning the way that I want it first.
